No OFW hurt or killed in Saudi hospital fire – DFA initial report
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila on Thursday said that initial reports showed no Filipino casualties in the Saudi fire that killed at least 25 people and injured a hundred others.
“Initial but still unconfirmed report from Jazan says no Filipino casualties in the fire,” Charles Jose, spokesperson for the DFA, said in a text message.
Jose noted that most of the casualties in the overnight fire that took place at a Saudi hospital were bed-ridden patients.
An estimated 20 OFWs work in the hospital.
Jose, however, said that as of Thursday evening, the Philippine embassy was still in the process of verifying the report. SFM
