MANILA, Arkansas–Mississippi County authorities say a Manila man was killed when he was trapped inside a grain bin at a farm owned by a family that was just named Arkansas Farm Family of the Year.

Major Larry Robinson says 52-year-old Jeffery Brown died in the accident Friday at Wildy Family Farms in Manila.

Robinson said Brown was moving soybeans around in the bin when they gave way, causing him to sink shortly after 11 a.m. Authorities were able to open a door at the bottom of the bin and recovered Brown’s body about 2:45 p.m.

Wildy Family Farms was announced Thursday as the 2015 Arkansas Farm Family of the Year. A news release from the Arkansas Farm Bureau said soybeans, cotton, wheat, milo and peanuts are grown on the 9,200-acre farm.
