New Jersey hospital launches Filipino medical outreach

Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, New Jersey launched its Filipino medical outreach program.

TEANECK, New Jersey— A northern New Jersey hospital hopes a new program will expand its outreach to the Filipino community.

The Record newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1O4T1M1 ) Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck marked the launch of its Filipino medical program with a ceremony Wednesday, December 2.

Kyung Hee Choi, the medical center’s vice president for Asian health services, introduced some of the 20 physicians of Philippine ancestry on staff during the ceremony. She says the program will focus on medical care as well as community outreach.

FEATURED STORIES

The program has already held health-screening events in churches and is planning more.

The hospital launched its Korean medical program in 2008 and its Chinese medical program earlier this year.

Other than offering ethnic food selections on its menu, the hospital also includes ethnic cable channels and local ethnic newspapers.
