WAIPAHU, Hawaii — In the spirit of Tara na! Pasko na! Tayo’y magsaya! (“Come on! It’s Christmas! Let’s have fun!”), Filipino and non-Filipino community groups and individuals will come together to share their knowledge and talents in a day filled with singing, dancing, crafts and cultural and public services exhibits on Sunday, December 6, at 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on December 6 at the Filipino Community Center, Inc. (FilCom Center).
The FilCom Center, the largest facility of its kind in the country and outside of the Philippines, serves thousands of people through its programs and events each year. It
celebrates the end of each year by holding its annual Pasko sa FilCom, a family-oriented event with several Philippine-inspired activities for children, which is free and open to the public.
There will also be contests for creating parols (using traditional or recycled materials), choral performances, tabletop Christmas tree decorations and Krismas karaoke. The afternoon will be filled with the music, sights and sounds of the Philippines.
The University of Hawaii will also feature a college fair to help families plan for college.
This year’s theme, Tara na! Pasko na! Tayo’y magsaya!, emphasizes the enjoyment we have by coming together to celebrate Christmas.
Everyone is welcome to this celebration of FilCom’s nine years of presenting and celebrating Filipino culture and traditions to Filipinos and non-Filipinos.
