Filipinos in France urged to be careful
THE DEPARTMENT of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has advised Filipinos living in France to be extra vigilant following the terrorist attacks in Paris last Friday by the Islamic State jihadi group which killed 129 people and wounded over 350.
Assistant Secretary and DFA spokesperson Charles Jose said the Philippine Embassy in Paris was coordinating with the Filipino community, reminding them to take extra precautions for their safety.
“The most important thing is for them to follow the instructions of the local authorities in connection with security,” Jose told reporters at the International Media Center for the Apec summit at the World Trade Convention Center in Pasay City.
In a statement, the DFA quoted the embassy advisory for Filipinos in Paris and to those planning to travel there to “monitor the media and official French government advisories for the latest developments.”
“Everyone is requested to exercise vigilance and caution and to be aware of their surroundings, with the view to ensuring their personal security,” the advisory said.
