Environmental activists will be training their guns on Canada’s newly sworn-in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during next week’s Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit up next week for the dumping of more than a hundred containers of Canadian garbage in the Philippines more than two years ago.
Protesters from groups such as Ban Toxics, Ang Nars party-list, EcoWaste Coalition, Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives, Green Convergence, Greenpeace, Mother Earth Foundation, Independent Labor Confederation and the Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa said they hoped the 43-year old Trudeau would not take the same stance as his predecessor, Stephen Harper, who refused to take back the tons of trash that were shipped here in 2013.
