OLD TOWN NICOSIA =: A Filipina mother of three died in a fall from her apartment located in old town Nicosia in Cyprus.

SAN FRANCISCO — A 27-year-old Filipino woman mother of three died from injuries she suffered after from the 5th floor of an apartment complex in Nicosia, Cyprus, on Friday, September 25, in an attempt to flee police immigrant checks.

The woman, whose name was not released by the authorities, lived in a five-storey building on Trikoupis Street in the old town of Nicosia, tried to evade a police check on Friday evening by jumping into an adjacent flat through a light well, according to a report by the Cyprus Mail.

Police had checked her male Nepalese partner’s papers, which turned out to be okay. The man, whose name also was not released, claimed he lived alone but it appears the woman tried to access the flat next door on the fifth floor through the bathroom window. She was trying to avoid police because her visa had expired, reports said.

The woman fell and suffered severe injuries and was noticed after the police had left the building and her partner went looking for her. She was rushed to hospital where she underwent emergency surgery but died on Saturday morning.
