The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday raised alert level 1 or precautionary phase in Thailand following the deadly bomb blast in Bangkok.
DFA said “alert level 1 is issued when there are valid signs of internal disturbance, instability, and external threat to the host country. Filipinos are alerted to take necessary precautions.”
The DFA advised Filipinos to avoid the following areas, as specified by the Thai police:
Rajaprasong intersection
Patumwan intersection
Silom road
Khao San road
Narathiwat intersection
Victory monument
Tuk Chai intersection
Benjasiri Park
Soi Thong Lor
Sukhumvit Road
The Philippine Embassy is ready to extend assistance, if necessary, to the estimated 15,000 Filipinos in Thailand.
On Monday, August 17, a bomb explosion in Bangkok killed at least 22 and injured dozens of people.
