Mountain View, Calif. library to host Fil-Am anthology authors

SAN FRANCISCO — The Mountain View Public Library will host the Filipino American authors of Beyond Lumpia, Pansit and Seven Manangs Wild, an anthology published by the Filipino National Historical Society’s East Bay Chapter, on Saturday, September 26.

Beyond Lumpia, Pansit and Seven Manangs Wild features many stories about second, third, and fourth-generation Filipinos, their experiences, and how they identify as Filipinos in America.

The narratives reflect the nature of living influenced by multiple cultures, and some reveal the pride felt by the authors in their Filipino heritage. Often, instead of always giving in to American hamburgers and hot dogs, the longing for adobo, lumpia and pansit has helped them resist complete assimilation and retain elements of their unique identity.

Authors will read and sign books, and attendees will enjoy a sampling of delicious Filipino snacks.

As always, events at the Mountain View Library are free of charge and open to residents and non-residents alike.
