THE Philippine government on Wednesday hailed the recently concluded landmark nuclear deal that would limit Iran’s nuclear program, preventing the country from producing nuclear weapons for at least 10 years.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the deal was an “important measure in promoting security and stability, both regional and global.”
“The Philippines welcomes the just concluded agreement on nuclear matters reached between Iran and the six negotiating countries (China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK and the US),” DFA said in a statement.
After more than a decade of negotiations, Iran and the six world powers inked the deal on Tuesday.

DFA urged the concerned nations to “maintain the positive momentum.”
“We call on the countries involved and the international community to help maintain the positive momentum for long-term peace that this agreement creates,” the department said.
Under the deal, the United Nations would conduct inspections of Iranian military sites and facilities. Iran also agreed to continue the UN arms embargo for another five years.
In return, the United States, the European Union, and the UN would lift all economic sanctions imposed on Iran, which would result in massive economic benefits amounting to more than $100 billion of frozen assets.
