SAN FRANCISCO — Overseas Voter Registration will take place at the Philippine Consulate’s booth during the KalayaanSF 2015 Philippine Independence Day Celebration at Union Square on Saturday, June 27.
All qualified Filipino citizens not registered as voters under Republic Act No. 8189, otherwise known as “ The Voters Registration Act of 1996,” (the system of continuing registration) can file an application for registration.
Those who are already registered shall file an application for certification.
To register, applicants are requested to bring a copy of any of the following:
- Data page of their Philippine Passport;
- Data page of their Seaman’s Book, if applicant is a seafarer; or
- Identification Certificate, Oath of Allegiance or Order of Approval, if applicant has availed of Dual Citizenship under RA 9225.
The filing of applications for registration/certification commenced last 06 May 2014 (Philippine time) and ends on 31 October 2015 (Philippine time).
Under Republic Act No. 9189, otherwise known as “The Overseas Absentee Voting Act of 2003”, as amended by Republic Act No. 10590, all citizens of the Philippines abroad, who are not otherwise disqualified by law, at least eighteen (18) years of age on the day of elections, and who are registered overseas voters, may vote for President, Vice-President, Senators and Party-List Representatives.
