The aviation police has arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) a returning overseas worker who is the subject of an arrest warrant.
Chief Supt. Pablo Francisco Balagtas, the Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) director, said that Julius de la Torre was arrested at around 10:30 a.m., Monday, by his men after he was held by immigration officers at Naia Terminal 2 arrival area.
Balagtas said in a statement that De la Torre, who arrived from Saudi Arabia, was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Alandrex Betoya of the Kabacan, Cotabato Regional Trial Court Branch 16, for his violation of the Violence against Women and Children Act.
The Avsegroup director said that De la Torre was stopped by immigration officers because of his inclusion in a May 28, 2014, Bureau of Immigration alert list order, which was issued because of the arrest warrant against him.
De la Torre is in the custody of the Avsegroup’s National Capital Region unit pending his presentation before the court, which issued the warrant against him. SM
