PH monitoring case of Filipina killed in Malaysia fire

The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur assured the public on Wednesday that it is closely monitoring the investigation on the death of Rovelyn “Ruby” Lloren Repotente.

Repotente, who hails from Polomok, South Cotabato, was found dead after she was trapped inside her house in Johor Bahru, which was allegedly set ablaze by a thief.

Ambassador Eduardo Malaya said Assistance to nationals Officer and lawyer Eduardo Vinuya Jr. is already in Johor Bahru, which is in southern Malaysia.

“He reiterated the Embassy’s request for a conduct of a full investigation, and has also requested for a copy of the autopsy report,” Malaya said in a statement.

He said Vinuya has already spoken with Repotente’s Malaysian husband and is scheduled to meet with her sister, who is flying from Manila.

The Embassy’s police attache earlier asked Malaysian authorities for a full investigation.

Repotente has been living in Malaysia for seven years with her husband.

Reports said the robber entered the house and set it on fire after he left. Repotente’s husband said he was not at home when the alleged theft happened.
