Another Filipino victim of NZ quake identified

ILOILO CITY, Philippines—The New Zealand police on Friday confirmed the identification of the remains of an Ilongga nurse as being among the bodies found after the February 22 Christchurch earthquake.

Mary Louise Anne Amantillo, 23, of Balasan town in Iloilo, was among the four names of confirmed dead released by the Christchurch Media Liaison Team and posted on the New Zealand Police website https://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/27511.html).

The three others were Ian Foldesi, 64, of Christchurch, Linlin Xu, 26, of China and Naon Yu, 21, of South Korea.

The New Zealand police said a total 146 names of those who died have been released.

The body of Amantillo’s close friend and college classmate Valquin Bensurto was identified last Sunday.

The two left for New Zealand on February 12 to find work and were trapped inside the Canterbury Television (CTV) Building when it collapsed in the earthquake.
