Jealousy pushes Pakistani man to stab Filipino wife in Abu Dhabi mall

In a fit of jealousy, a 40-year-old Filipino woman was reportedly stabbed by her 61-year-old Pakistani husband with a cleaver at Abu Dhabi’s Capital Mall on Monday afternoon.

A report by Emirates 247 said the Filipina, with initials of J.D., was in “critical condition” when she was rushed to the hospital by a police ambulance.

Citing Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, head of the criminal investigation department of the Abu Dhabi police, the report said the incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. when the Pakistani, known as “Q. Shah,” went to the mall where his wife worked as a saleslady of a beauty shop.

“The mall security footage showed the suspect following the victim prior to the crime,” the report read. “Witnesses also testified that the suspect came to the victim’s work place and asked about her but could not find her.”

The report added that the suspect repeatedly called the victim’s mobile phone to know her whereabouts, but the latter was not picking up. It was later revealed that the Filipina went to the washroom.

The Pakistani then left the post and returned with a stolen cleaver hidden behind his back.

“He grabbed the victim by her hair and hit her multiple times before she could escape his grip at the last minute,” the report said.

Security personnel immediately came to reprimand the suspect and rushed the Filipina to the hospital.

Citing police interrogations, the report said the Pakistani suspected his wife of having an affair with an Asian security guard working at the same mall, with photos on the Filipina’s mobile phone allegedly confirming his theories.

It added that the police also arrested the security guard tagged by the suspect in having an alleged affair with the Filipina.
