One of the alleged victims of the recruiters of Mary Jane Veloso is missing, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Friday.
The DOJ resolution which recommended the filing of large-scale illegal recruitment case against Ma. Cristina Sergio and Julius Lacanilao mentioned that Rosalie Pascual recently travelled abroad after she was recruited by the two.
The large-scale illegal recruitment case has been filed with the Nueva Ecija court Friday.
“There is an allegation that respondents [Sergio and Lacanilao] were able to recently send Ms. Rosalie Pascual abroad,” the DOJ said.
“At present, Ms. Pascual’s whereabouts are not known, and her relatives do not have any way to contact her,” the DOJ said.
Based on the affidavit of Daisy de Luna, sister of Rosalie, her sister left for Bahrain on April 28, a day before the scheduled execution by firing squad of Mary Jane Veloso.
“Since she left for Bahrain, we no longer had any contact with her,” de Luna said.
Asked by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) how she knew that her sister was leaving for Bahrain, she said “she told me before she left.”
De Luna said her older brother, Danilo Viscarra who works in Saudi Arabia tried to stop her.
“Pinigilan sya ng kapatid namin dahil hindi daw maganda ang pagtrato sa mga babae doon (My brother tried to stop her because women are not treated well there),” de Luna said.
De Luna said Sergio warned her that if she backed out, she would have to pay P20,000 penalty.
It noted that Pascual went abroad under the same set up where after payment of a particular fee, Sergio will either refer her to another person or escort her to a particular country where they will find work as househelp, entertainer, among others.
