Filipina cleaner allegedly raped by Indian watchman in Dubai—report
A 31-YEAR-OLD Indian watchman was slapped with a rape charge before a Dubai court for allegedly raping a 32-year-old Filipina cleaner last July.
According to a report by Gulf News, it happened when the Filipina was cleaning his sponsor’s bedroom in a villa in The Meadows.
The suspect entered a not guilty plea when he appeared before Judge Ezzat Abdul Lat of Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday. He is currently out on bail.
He maintained that they had consensual sex.
“I did not rape her… we had consensual sex,” the suspect said.
The victim told prosecutors that that the incident happened when they were alone in the villa and she was fixing one of the beds in the upper rooms of the villa.
She said that the suspect then entered the room and asked her to sit with him on the bed.
“He pushed me down on the bed and removed my clothes. I tried to resist him and push him away, but I couldn’t stop him. He forced me to have sex with him and, after he finished, he asked me not to tell anyone what happened. He pinned me down and used force. I was too scared and cried a lot and that was why I could not call for help,” the cleaner narrated.
She immediately went to a local police station and filed a rape complaint against the suspect. The police arrested the watchman in the villa.
The court will appoint a lawyer to defend the suspect when it reconvenes on April 27. AJH
