WATCH: Global Filipino Network/WestBay Pilipino Multi-Service video on relief for undocumented immigrants
SAN FRANCISCO — There are about 15,000 Filipinos in California who are eligible to apply for the DACA (Deferred Action For Children Arrivals), a US Immigration policy that allows certain undocumented immigrants who entered the country before their 16th birthday and before June 2007 to receive a renewable two-year work permit and exemption from deportation. However, very few Filipinos seem to be applying for this.
A panel organized Global Filipino Network in partnership with WestBay Pilipino Multi-Service Center discussed this topic March 20.
Those who missed the event can watch this video and find out the answers to basic questions like:
- What is DACA and DAPA that we are hearing about related to Obama’s Executive Action on Immigration?
- Is there a risk in applying for DACA?
- What should we do next?
Global Filipino Network will be holding several more events on the same topic in various areas in the US. Watch for the detailed schedule here: events.globalfilipinonetwork.org
