DZIQ: ‘Not all Muslims are pro-Osama bin Laden,’ says leader

MANILA, Philippines – Some Muslims are not affected by the death of Osama bin Laden and alleged “desecration” of his body, the president of the Pasay Muslim organization told Radyo Inquirer Saturday.

“The death of Osama bin Laden has no effect to our [Muslim] community,” Pasay City Consultative Office of Muslim Affairs Director Khalid Majeed said in Filipino, citing that his brothers in religion are peacefully living and working.

Majeed said they were not one of those pro-Bin Laden Muslims who held a memorial service for the terrorist and who called the United States the “no. 1 terrorist”. “Not all Muslims are pro-Osama. It is just right to kill Bin Laden,” he said.

Asked over the rally of their pro-Osama brothers, Majeed said that they were not informed about it and would not march even if they were invited.

“The country’s involvement with Osama bin Laden has become a problem and we do not want to add to that. Besides we are not capable of dealing with such a problem,” the Muslim leader said.

Majeed warned that the desecration of Bin Laden’s body “may cause another war” and said that Bin Laden deserved a burial under the Muslim tradition.
