MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday warned Filipinos working in Kuwait to not fall for pyramiding investment scams operated by “unscrupulous individuals both in the Philippines and Kuwait.”

The DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has received reports that a pyramiding scam has been proliferating in the country.

It issued an advisory to the Filipino community in Kuwait “recommending that they first conduct the necessary research and verification on the legality of any entity before investing their hard-earned money in dubious schemes.”

The agency did not specify the groups or the modus operandi of the companies involved in the alleged pyramiding scam but warned Filipinos to be cautious of investing in businesses, especially ones operated by questionable identities.

It said overseas Filipino workers (OFW) may tap Philippine government agencies to verify the registration and legality of the company in question.
