Pope taps Tagle head of Bible federation

MANILA, Philippines–Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle has been tapped to head another key Catholic Church position—as president of the Catholic Biblical Federation (CBF).

This was announced by Pope Francis at the Vatican on March 5, according to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) news site.

Tagle will assume the post at the 9th CBF plenary assembly on June 18 to 23, in Nemi, Italy. He will serve at this post until 2021.

Tagle will succeed Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, who served as CBF president since September 2002.

Last October, Tagle was elected to head the Catholic fellowship of international and local organizations committed to the Biblical-pastoral ministry, the CBCP said.
