Lipa archbishop on US envoy’s statement on Aquino character: I agree
MANILA, Philippines—Former US Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney’s statement revealed in the whistle blower website WikiLeaks about President Benigno Aquino III’s credibility was true, Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles was quoted in a 990 AM report Tuesday as saying.
In the report, Arguelles said he agreed with Kenney’s statement because it was true that Aquino had not proven anything when he was still in the Senate and in the House.
Arguelles also said that it was true that “a person’s past can say what he can do in the future” but that the person can still change, adding that the people should pray for Aquino so he can do something for the country.
Aquino was described by Kenny as “diffident and unassertive,” secret cables published by anti-secrecy website Wikileaks revealed.
Kenney filed the series of unflattering cables after then Senator Aquino had declared his presidential candidacy and during the election campaign, the website said.
