MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Immigration has recaptured escaped ward Douglas Brent Jackson after a six-day manhunt by the BI Davao Intelligence agents.
Immigration spokesperson Elaine Tan said Jackson was arrested last Saturday in Tibangan, Iligan City.
Jackson escaped the bureau’s holding facility in Davao last December 7 by sawing off the grills of the window where he was detained.
He was captured after a thorough manhunt operation led by the Chief of the Intelligence Division, lawyer Jose Carlitos Licas, with the active coordination of BI-Davao Alien Control Officer Eddie de Lima.
“The arrest was effected by joint elements of BI and Philippine National Police (PNP) operatives,” BI spokesperson Elaine Tan said.
Jackson was apprehended around 8 p.m. hiding in a hotel on Andres Bonifacio Avenue, Tibanga, Iligan City, using the alias Ted Miller.
The manhunt team included Intelligence Officer Abdullah Madale, Special Agent Melody Gonzales and Confidential Agent Mark Andrew Asistido.
He is now detained at the BI-Bicutan Detention facility pending the implementation of his deportation order.
Jackson was issued a summary deportation order on August 29, 2014, for being a fugitive in the US for theft.
