MANILA, Philippines–Seven ambassadors and two foreign service officers were recommended for confirmation on Wednesday by a panel of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA).
No member of the CA committee on foreign affairs objected when an omnibus motion to recommend the nomination of the nine diplomats were put on the table.
The committee’s decision will then be elevated to the CA plenary for either adoption or rejection.
The seven ambassadors are the following:
1. Christopher Montero, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Chief Mission Class II
2. Carlos Sorreta, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus and Republic of Ukraine, Chief of Mission, Class I
3. Jose Burgos, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Federative Republic of Brazil with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Colombia, the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, and the Republic of Suriname, Chief of Mission Class II
4. Junever Mahilum-West, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with concurrent jurisdiction over the Palestine Republic, Chief of Mission, Class II
5. Meynardo Montealegre, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Brunei Darussalam, Chief of Mission, Class II
6. Nestor Ochoa, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Hellenic Republic with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Cyprus, Chief of Mission, Class I
7. Bayani Mangibin, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Kenya and to include the concurrent jurisdiction over the republic of South Sudan, Chief of Mission, Class I
The other two nominations, which were recommended for confirmation by the CA panel, were those of Joseph Anthony Reyes, foreign service officer, Class I; and Jose Garcia III, foreign service officer, Class II.
