4 Koreans nabbed in Angeles City for smoking pot
ANGELES CITY, Philippines -— Four Koreans on Thursday were arrested by barangay (village) officials here for allegedly smoking marijuana, an act prohibited in the Philippines.
Senior Supt. Eden Ugale, city police director, said Reynaldo Gueco, barangay captain of Malabanias, informed him of the arrest of Kim In Soo, Chin Woo Seong, Kim Mean Seong and Jeong Jin Bai.
The Koreans, all residents of Timog Park in Barangay Cutcut, were allegedly smoking marijuana cigarettes inside the Echo Bar on Don Juico Avenue at 11 a.m.
Ugale said the Koreans were turned over to the police. The 14 sticks of suspected marijuana cigarettes recovered from them were taken to the Angeles City police’s crime laboratory for analysis.
The suspects told village officials and policemen that the cigarettes were made of herbs and its use has been allowed in South Korea.
Ugale said the cigarettes were made in Korea. “If confirmed to have marijuana content, they will be charged with possession of illegal drugs,” he said.
