Harvard professor fights restaurant over $4

/ 04:21 AM December 11, 2014

BOSTON — A Harvard Business School instructor is battling a Chinese restaurant for overcharging him by $4 on a takeout order.

The Boston Globe (https://bit.ly/1vOR01J ) reports that associate professor Benjamin Edelman complained to the Sichuan Garden after the Brookline, Massachusetts restaurant charged him $1 more on each of the four items he ordered.

In an email exchange with Edelman, the restaurant acknowledged the prices listed on its website were out of date and promised to update them soon.

But Edelman demanded a $12 refund, arguing that he’s eligible for that amount under state law. He also contacted local officials to demand the restaurant compensate all other customers who might have been affected.

Edelman says officials have declined to intervene. But the restaurant agreed to pay back half his $53.35 bill.
