With the typhoon scheduled to hit Saturday, MAP International plans to send 60 pre-packaged medical supply kits containing antibiotics, pain relievers, bandages and other first-aid supplies from its headquarters in coastal Brunswick. Mark Mosely, the charity’s vice president for relief, said the medical packs fill two boxes with enough medicine to treat 700 or more people.
MAP International is also sending an emergency kit the size of a giant crate from Europe to the Philippines. Mosely said it can treat 10,000 people for three months.
MAP volunteers spent months in the Philippines when a killer typhoon hit last year. Mosely says the approaching storm “could be disastrous.”
