3 Filipinas reap Stevie Awards for women in business

SAN FRANCISCO – Three Filipinas received Stevie Awards for Women in Business at the prestigious Stevie Awards held in New York on Friday, November 14.
Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN’s president and CEO, was awarded the Gold Stevie Award in the Female Executive of the Year in Asia, Australia, or New Zealand category.
She also received the Gold Stevie Award for the Woman of the Year category for all Asia-Pacific nations (except Australia and South Korea) at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards.
Additionally, Santos-Concio was named Asian Media Woman of the Year by ContentAsia, a premier information resource that covers the entertainment media industry across Asia-Pacific region.
Two other Filipinas won at the 11th Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
Jena Fetalino, president of Mosman NewMedia Inc., which publishes Medical Observer, won the Gold Stevie Award in the Female Executive of the Year – Business Services (10 or fewer Employees) category.
Lawyer Darlene Marie Berberabe, Pag-IBIG Fund CEO, got the Silver Stevie Award in the Female Executive of the Year – Government or Non-Profit category, according to www.stevieawards.com, the Stevie Awards’ official website.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world’s top honors for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees and the organizations they run.
All individuals and organizations worldwide are eligible to submit nominations. The 2014 awards received entries from 22 nations and territories.
Santos-Concio was cited by the award-giving body for the achievements of ABS-CBN last year under her leadership, such as its continued reign in TV ratings, increase in company revenues and public service initiatives for the victims of Bohol quake, Zamboanga siege, and typhoon Yolanda.
“I share this recognition with my fellow Filipinos and my family at ABS-CBN, whose passion to serve Filipinos around the world and provide help to those in need makes me so grateful and proud to lead a company that puts public service at the heart of its business,” Santos-Concio said.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners during a dinner event attended by more than 400 people at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 160 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process this year.
