MANILA, Philippines–The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) suspended the implementation of its order integrating airport terminal fee in the cost of international airline tickets.

In compliance with the order by the Pasay Court, “the MIAA is hereby suspending its implementation,” it said in a statement.

The integration, based on Memorandum Circular No. 8, should have started November 1.

But several overseas Filipino groups asked the court Tuesday to stop the order. Migrant Filipino workers are exempted from paying terminal fees and the integration order would nullify this benefit.

The Pasay Court issued Friday a 20-day restraining order against the MIAA memorandum circular. It has set a November 17 hearing to determine if the restraining order will be made permanent.
