MANILA, Philippines—Filipino Peacekeepers stationed in Ebola-stricken Liberia would be quarantined at their headquarters in Tarlac upon their arrival in the country.
Colonel Roberto Ancan, Philippine Peacekeeping Operations Center Commander, said that the 112 Peacekeepers would be quarantined for three weeks in Capas, Tarlac.
They are set to arrive between November 10 and 14.
General Gregorio Pio Catapang, Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief, said the other soldiers stationed at PKOC would be transferred to other offices, temporarily, while the Peacekeepers complete their quarantine.
“We will prepare the place and we will move the soldiers assigned there so that the peacekeepers from Liberia can be isolated,” Catapang said.
The PKOC is stationed at Camp O’ Donnell which also houses the Mechanized Infantry Division and the Training and Doctrine Command.
Ancan said the Peacekeepers are “doing well” as he hopes not one of them contracted the virus which has killed less than 5,000 people dead.
The Peacekeepers are set to arrive through a chartered flight of a Russian airline.
