Korean drugged, robbed of valuables, cash by 5 in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – A Korean lost over P40,000 worth of gadgets Monday morning after he claimed to have been drugged by five people he met while taking in the sights of Manila.

The Manila Police identified the victim as Heo Juwon, a tourist staying at the M Hotel in Ermita, Manila. The victim lost two cell phones, a watch, and cash to three women and two men who were still unidentified as of Monday night.

Police reports showed that Heo was strolling at the Rizal Park around 4:30 a.m. on Monday when he met the five robbers.

They invited him to join them as they were about to drink in a restaurant along Dimasalang Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Heo joined them, but he told investigators that he felt sleepy as they were drinking. He told investigators that the next thing he remembered was waking up and getting off from a taxi.

As his senses returned, he noticed that his P24,500 Samsung tablet, P16,500 LG cellphone, and his P2,500 Casio watch were missing, along with the P500 cash that he carried.

Investigators suspect that the victim was drugged by the suspects so they could steal his valuables.
