DFA: ‘Technical’ problems cause delay in issuance of passports

MANILA, Philippines — There will be a delay in the issuance of passports due to a “technical problem”, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in an advisory Saturday.The DFA said the glitch has resulted in a breakdown in passport production.”

The DFA, however, assured that it has addressed the problem and expected operations to normalize also this Saturday.

The DFA said “it would address the delays in passport issuance within the next three to four weeks as its personnel would work around the clock, even during holidays and weekends, to ensure that production backlogs are addressed in the soonest possible time.”

“The Department sincerely apologizes for the delays in passport issuance and the inconvenience that this has caused to our fellow Filipinos. The Department assures the public that it is taking all the necessary steps to ensure that passports are issued on time and appeals to the public for its kind understanding on this matter,” it said.
