MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos in Libya and in three other countries facing unrest should steer clear of the protest actions, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Carmelita Dimzon reiterated Tuesday.

Dimzon described the situation in Libya, saying “communication has been cut off, the welfare officer could not give accurate information of the situation, and the Internet service connection intermittent.” The situation in Bahrain, Tunisia, Yemen is similar although the tension is much less, she added.

There are from 21,000 to 26,000 registered Filipino workers in Libya.

Dimzon said they were waiting for the Department of Foreign Affairs to make its move.
