Fil-Am basketball ‘fanatics’ to host big intercity tournament

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Illinois – Filipino-American basketball enthusiasts of this DuPage County city will again host a popular intercity basketball tournament that attracts teams from more than 25 cities all over North America, Canada and Europe.

Fil-Am Basketball of Glendale Heights will be a host city for the 27th Annual Intercity Basketball tournament of North American Basketball Association (NABA) on Labor Day Weekend, August 29-31, at five difference accessible locations and sports centers.

The venues are Glendale Heights Sports Hub, Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center, Downers Grove Park District, College of DuPage and Downers Grove High School 99.

Dr. Ron Damasco, NABA commissioner since 1986, when the organization was founded, will head the event. His colleagues, Dr. Sonny Albano, executive director for the U.S., and Frank Pendon and Gani Gregorio, executive directors for Canada, will assist him.

The tournament gets support from all city directors, especially under the leadership John Quines, the city director of Glendale Heights, and all of Fil-Am Basketball, namely Lio Uy, the Fil-Am president, Jun Villanueva and Rudy Quines, NABA advisors.

The public is invited to enjoy more than 15 levels of divisions, ranging from 8 years old to 45 year old. Participants, parents, watchers, visitors interested in staying during the three-day event, can make reservations now at Westin Hotel and Hyatt Place at Lombard, Illinois.
