SF Manilatown to hold fundraiser for ailing dance artist Labayen

SAN FRANCISCO, California – A fundraiser for renowned Filipino choreographer, Enrico Labayen, who is seriously ailing, will be held by the Manila Heritage Foundation Saturday, August 9 from 5 to 7 p.m., as it marks the 37th anniversary of the International Hotel eviction.

“Save a Manong” the commemoration presented by Kommunity Katarungan will be at the I-Hotel Manilatown Center, 868 Kearny St., near Jackson, San Francisco.

Labayen has been diagnosed with hepatitis-C, a serious liver disease that can be cured with proper treatment. Proceeds from the evening will help Labayen raise the $84,000 he needs to heal from the disease.

The “celebration of life and community support includes food, drinks, music, dance, poetry story talk, and a tour of the Center including the Rooftop Garden.
