University of the Visayas (UV) netters stamped their mark by running off with two titles in the 4th Mandaue City Mayor’s Junior Tennis Cup, which ended yesterday at the Mandaue City tennis courts.
Junel Espinosa clinched the 18-Under boys title while Marc Norman Enriquez bagged the 16-Under boys title.
Espinosa had to fend off an onslaught brought on by Mark Bienes, 10-9 (7-3), for the title. In contrast, Enriquez broke no sweat for his title after routing Ralp Juliane, 10-3.
In the 14-Under boys, Joshua Kinaadman came out on top of a grueling match for the title against Geo Pepito, 10-9 (7-2).
Gener Francis Lambayan showed that he was on a class of his own with a 10-2 bashing of Clyde Laquio, 10-2.
In the distaff side, the Dasian sisters of Naga suffered contrasting fates.
Elgy Dasian survived Claire Lazaga, 10-7, for the 18-Under girls title while her younger sister Elma conceded the 16-Under girls title to Sharalyn Tunacao, 10-7.
Among all the girls competing in the finals, Mary Calapre had the most glorious success as she blanked Beverly Enriquez for the 14-Under girls title.
In the 12 under girls, Allysa Mae Bornia also had a walk in the park in notching the title with a 10-1 demolition of Shenna Maine Dungog.
In the 10-Under unisex, Adrian Kinaadman was not as fortunate as his brother as he bowed to Mark Suson, 5-10, in their titular match.
