DFA to process 500 more passport applications daily

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Foreign Affairs will now process 500 more passport applications per day in a bid to curb the pressing issue of passport delays.

The DFA Office of Consular Affairs said the 500 new appointment slots will be on top of the 4,500 daily appointments for passport applications.

On Saturdays, 1,500 passport applications will be processed at the DFA-OCA from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the DFA said.

“This measure adds 18,000 new appointment slots per month, which brings the total appointment slots to 106,000 per month,” it said in a statement.

At the same time, the DFA said passport applications should be filed at least 12 weeks before the intended date of travel.

“The DFA is exerting all efforts and is committed to respond to the consular needs of all Filipinos, especially of overseas Filipino workers,” it said.
