DFA: 2 Filipinos survive Korean ferry disaster
MANILA, Philippines – Two Filipino seamen were rescued from the doomed South Korean ferry that capsized and sank last Wednesday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
“Our Embassy in Seoul has confirmed that there are no Filipino casualties in the sinking of Korean vessel Sewol,” DFA spokesman Charles Jose said in a text message.
“The two Filipinos who are working in the vessel are safe and have been brought to the hospital for treatment,” he said.
Nine people have been confirmed dead because of the ferry that capsized off South Korea’s southern coast.
Hundreds are still missing and subject of search and rescue operations.
