Morales to Czech envoy: Cooperate in MRT probe

MANILA, Philippines—Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales has reiterated her call to Czech Republic Ambassador Josef Rychtar to cooperate in their investigation on allegations of $30 million extortion of Metro Rail Transit general manager Al Vitangcol III.

Carpio-Morales’ letter was dated April 8.

Ombudsman created a special panel of investigators last year to gather evidence following reports that Vitangcol tried to extort $30million from Inekon Group for the Czech Company to bag a contract to supply train coaches for MRT3.

Rychtar was invited by the Ombudsman last July but he declined the invitation.
