Rebels assure safe passage for Filipinos leaving Libya

MANILA, Philippines—Libyan rebels have assured Philippine embassy officials in Tripoli that fleeing Filipino migrants would be given safe passage as they are repatriated out of the strife-torn country.

“Representatives from the rebel groups have already visited our embassy officials and have assured safety corridors for the passage of our OFW’s to the port of Tripoli and onward repatriation,” Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Raul Hernandez told reporters in Malacañang.
