MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday said it had intercepted two people who allegedly tried to leave the country using fake passports.
Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison said immigration personnel arrested an Indian national who used a fake passport on Tuesday at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
Mison said the Indian national admitted to buying the fake passport from a fellow Indian for P40,000 in Davao.
Authorities also barred Juria Karim Butuan, an overseas Filipino worker, from leaving the country last Feb. 10 using her sister’s passport. Butuan attempted to travel as one Sahara Manondong Amil, said Mison.—Jocelyn R. Uy
