Cassandra Ong finally attends Senate Pogo probe

MANILA, Philippines — Alice Guo’s alleged business associate Cassandra Ong finally faced a Senate inquiry on Tuesday on the dismissed Bamban mayor’s ties to Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogos).

Ong repeatedly failed to attend the upper chamber’s hearings because she was sick and hospitalized.

Before the investigation began on September 17, Senate medical personnel checked her blood pressure, which measured 90/60.

Ong is an incorporator to Whirlwind Corporation which leased land to Lucky South 99, a raided Pogo hub in Pampanga.

Ong’s attendance at the Senate panel on women’s hearing came after her appearance at the House of Representatives’ quad-committee hearings.

During the lower chamber’s proceedings, Ong admitted that Guo’s brother Wesley Guo is her boyfriend, but she vehemently denied having any ties with Guo outside of that.

Earlier, the Department of Justice had filed charges against Ong before a Pasay City Court for violating Section 1(c) of Presidential Decree No. 1829 for Obstruction of Justice, specifically for harboring, concealing, or facilitating the escape of a criminal offender.

Ong was repatriated back to the Philippines in August after she and Shiela Guo were apprehended in Indonesia.
