Remulla taps Viado as Bureau of Immigration OIC

Guo-Haas swap: Wanted Australian man not yet for deportation – BI

MANILA, Philippines — Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla has designated Deputy Commissioner Atty. Joel Anthony Viado as Bureau of Immigration (BI) officer-in-charge following the dismissal of Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Department of Justice said Viado will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the bureau under the supervision of Remulla.

Viado’s designation will be effective immediately until a new commissioner is appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.

On Monday, Marcos relieved Tansingco from his post over the departure of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo.
