Commitment to customers

Arslie M. Malipero of CPV Malipero and Associates Insurance Agency, Inc. worked as a salesman in various industries like pharmaceuticals and agriculture before he found his true calling as a financial advisor.

“Since 1996, I have dedicated myself to the field of life insurance. In my first few years, I viewed offering life insurance to clients as an ordinary profession to earn a living, provide for my family and give quality education to my children,” Malipero said.

“But throughout my career, I have seen the transformative power of sound financial planning. Helping individuals and families navigate their financial challenges and achieve their goals has been incredibly fulfilling. My goal is to always give my best in offering Filipinos the financial security that they deserve until I retire from this profession,” he added.

As his clients’ partner in financial planning, the financial advisor from Davao is highly focused and dedicated to his profession.

“I convey the importance of insurance and financial planning to my clients by emphasizing a new perspective on their finances. I explain that in today’s economy, personal finances can be vulnerable to various factors beyond their control. I illustrate that insurance and financial planning serve as a protective umbrella on a stormy day, shielding them from unexpected financial hardships and uncertainties,” he said.

Through personalized consultations, Malipero highlights real-life scenarios to show his clients that adequate insurance coverage and a well-crafted financial plan can mitigate risks and provide peace of mind. And through open dialogue with his clients, he underscores that financial planning is not just about securing assets but about safeguarding their dreams and securing their loved ones against unforeseen challenges.

Resilience and determination

Suzette A. Morillo from Cebu is grateful that she took the challenge of self-employment and started as a Financial Advisor of Agila Financial Team General Insurance Agency, Inc. in 2010. She said the profession allowed her to enjoy work-life balance and to pursue her dreams for her family.

Morillo shared that she facilitated her first death claim when her husband passed away last year. “I cannot imagine myself dealing with emotional distress and financial stress at the same time. The insurance coverage and critical illness proceeds helped me settle all the medical and funeral expenses. Although it might take a long time to process grief, I am a grateful widow and single mom who provides for my children, with my husband’s legacy,” she said.

This experience strengthened her determination to help her clients secure the best future for themselves and their loved ones.

“My goal is to fulfill my mission of helping my clients build and leave a valued legacy to their beneficiaries and the next generation. Every time I meet my clients, peace of mind is my main agenda. I formulate and update their financial plan and look at gaps in their pursuit for financial freedom. I make sure that they feel my presence as their companion in building a secured life,” she said.

The working mom added that InLife helps her by providing the tools and training for further development, and formulating products that perfectly align to the customers’ needs.

Personal connection

Mercedita F. Gurrea of Agila Financial Team General Insurance Agency, Inc., shares her personal experiences with her clients to show the value of life insurance and financial planning.

“Growing up, my family faced many hardships, especially after my father suffered from stroke that stopped him from working. My siblings and I had to find ways to earn a living while still in school. Because of our challenging situation, I was not able to finish my education. Despite these difficulties, I discovered my skill for selling various items, from fish to home appliances. This skill became my saving grace and helped me support my siblings’ education,” Gurrea said.

“I’ve been working as a financial advisor for 28 years now. My goal in this profession is to continue making a positive difference in people’s financial lives, helping them achieve financial security and realize their dreams, just as I have done for my family,” she added.

The financial advisor from Cebu spends time listening to her clients’ concerns in a bid to understand their financial goals and to customize the financial solutions that best fit their unique needs.

“I make sure that my clients fully comprehend the products and strategies we discussed so that they feel empowered and confident in their financial decisions. This personalized and educational approach helps my clients see beyond the immediate costs of insurance and recognize its long-term value in safeguarding their future.”

Patience and faith

Carmen C. Yap of J & C and Associates Insurance Agency, Inc. from Bukidnon has been an InLife financial advisor for 27 years now. She finds fulfillment in sharing the important concepts of financial literacy and planning with people from all walks of life.

“Educating families about life insurance and proper savings practices is not just a job, it is a noble endeavor that secures people’s future and spreads financial awareness. I am proudly Filipino dedicated to serving my fellow Filipinos. InLife stands out with its unwavering commitment to serving our people for 113 years,” she said.

Yap said the travel opportunities, awards and recognition are humbling experiences that reinforce fulfillment in her career.

“Being a financial advisor presents challenges, but it also taught me invaluable lessons of perseverance, patience and faith. I attribute my success to being friendly, resilient in the face of rejection, and prayerful, trusting God to guide me,” she added.

Persistence and charm

Joselito P. Lee of 007 Supreme Quantum Insurance General Agency, Inc. said his clients are always excited to see him and hear his funny stories. Lee shared that he takes time to know his clients and their needs so he can address their concerns.

“InLife is 100% Filipino-owned and is the only mutual life insurance company in the Philippines. With 31 years as an InLifer, I have always been proud of our company and the Filipino lives we have secured. My promise to deliver the best service to my clients is also made possible because of InLife’s assistance and help,” he said.

His decades of service as financial advisor does not exempt him from challenges along the way. “Some clients are easy to convince to get an insurance policy or increase their insurance coverage. However, I also encounter difficulties and objections from others due to their past experiences. But my mantra in life is to never ever give up,” he said.

Lee stands motivated by a financial advisor’s purpose of empowering others to attain financial security. “The purpose of a Financial Advisor is to impart financial knowledge to Filipinos to ensure that their families and loved ones will have the same lifestyle if something happens to them. The end goal of getting an insurance policy is leaving a legacy to your loved ones. Insurance policies also have living benefits and guaranteed cash endowments and maturities, which our clients can enjoy upon retirement,” he said.

For Malipero, Morillo, Gurrea, Yap and Lee, the purpose for others and excellent service brought them the distinction as InLife’s Top Underwriters for 2023.
