5 foreign nationals arrested in Tawi-Tawi for illegal entry

MANILA, Philippines — Five foreign nationals were arrested in Tawi-Tawi for illegal entry, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday.According to the BI, those arrested were four Indian nationals and a Malaysian national who will be facinf charges for illegal entry.

The Indians were identified as Lakhwinder Singh Brar, 30; Parwinder Singh, 21; Sukhraj Singh Dubb, 32; and Jagjit Chohan, 36; while the Malaysian was Bryan Ng, 25.

The BI said that the five were onboard a vessel which arrived at Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

When Philippine Coast Guard personnel interviewed the four Indian nationals, they were not able to show their immigration stamps, while Ng was also unable to present his passport.

Authorities then discovered that the four Indians were included in the country’s blacklist of foreign nationals, while Ng was suspected to be involved in trafficking, the BI said.
