Remains of OFW who died in Dubai floods arrive in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — The remains of a 30-year-old Filipina overseas worker, who died in the Dubai floods in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), arrived at the Tuguegarao Domestic Airport in Cagayan Sunday morning.
A Philippine Airlines plane, which carried the remains of Marjorie Saquing-Ancheta, 30, landed at about 10:30 a.m.
The remains of Saquing-Ancheta, a resident of Barangay Masical in Amulung town, Cagayan, were welcomed by her grieving family. Officials and some of her townmates were also present at the airport, along with staff of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

The body was later brought to a funeral parlor in the city and placed in a casket.
Later in the afternoon, her remains were brought to their house in Masical village for a wake.
Last month, Philippine officials said three Filipinos died in the heavy flooding, following an unusually strong storm, in the UAE.
Drowned
Ancheta was supposed to arrive for vacation in Cagayan this coming September.
Instead, she came home in a box, having drowned in the widespread flooding that happened in the UAE on April 17. According to reports, she passed away in a car that was submerged by floods.

Maricris Ancheta, Marjorie’s mother, told reporters that her daughter planned to take a vacation to celebrate the birthday of her twin daughters and to be with her other daughter.
“I prodded her to not to go abroad then but she insisted because she was thinking of her children,” Maricris added.
Marjorie, a teacher in Dubai, was single-handedly supporting her three children, whom she left to her parents. Her eldest daughter is eight years old while her twins are aged one.
