The Nutshack, the first ever animated television series on Filipino Americans, is raising comedy alert to red this April with the national release of its entire first season DVD through US video and music distributor RNLG/E1 Entertainment.
AS the country’s economy plummets, in spite of the rising number of culinary establishments, more people are learning to entertain at home. Entertaining or playing hostess is not an easy task, as I have learned in the few times that I threw dinner parties at my house.
SOSY is urban Filipino slang for sosyal (sociable, gregarious), tongue in cheek, and taas kilay (eyebrows arched). This newest section of Global Nation has been conceived as a grab bag for the original, the outstanding, and the cutting edge.
“Original” will define Sosy, so it will be far from limited to the upper crust of a creative people who share a fascination for the new, if not its progenitor. It all comes with a genius for improvising and winging it – both a virtue and vice, as we all know too well.
Sosy makes equal room for new journalism, literature and their counterparts in the sciences, culture (jokes and survival mechanisms included) – and yes, the Pinoy blogosphere a-bloom with the sosy.
So join the party, tertulia, happening, sacred ritual, gimik – call it what you like, so long as you enjoy and learn from it.
