MANILA, Philippines ? A new tropical depression was sighted just outside the Philippine seas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

In its latest weather advisory, Pagasa said that the tropical depression near Marianas Islands was estimated to be at 2,800 kilometers east of Visayas packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph.

The weather system is forecast to move west northwestward at 19 kph and is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday or Friday, the state-run weather bureau said.

Meanwhile, the inter-tropical convergence zone will continue to affect most part of Mindanao bringing scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the region, Pagasa said.
