San Francisco, CA-Top Filipino chefs in the Bay Area will gather together and display their culinary talents in FILIPINO BYTES, a rare gourmet event on September 14. It will feature the executive chefs of five select restaurants in San Francisco and the Peninsula - Kelly Degala of Pres A Vi, Jennie Lorenzo of Fifth Floor, Tim Luym of Poleng Lounge, Emmanuel George Santos of Bistro Luneta and Daniel Sudar of Red Lantern.

This culinary first was organized by the Special Events Committee of Ayala Foundation USA (AFUSA) and will benefit its charity and social development programs in the Philippines. It will be held at the poolside of AFUSA Chairman, Dado Banatao’s residence in Atherton, California.

AFUSA’s banner project, GILAS (Gearing up for Internet Literacy and Access for Students), aims to connect poor Philippine public high schools to the Internet. More information on GILAS can be found on www.gilas.org)

“At first, we were not sure if we could really gather all these five incredibly talented and extremely busy Filipino chefs in one place and make them work together to come up with a dining event to remember,” said Maria Banatao, Special Events Chair.

“But all the chefs got very enthusiastic about this, especially when they learned it was for a very good cause. They were all willing and eager to help their disadvantaged kababayans (countryment in their homeland,” added Sheri Burke, Special Events Co-chair.

The Committee is also in the thick of preparations for a bigger Gala Night on April 24, 2009 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, where a lot of unique and one-f-a kind surprises also await guests and supporters of AFUSA.
