MANILA, Philippines -- There are no nursing jobs for foreigners in Israel, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday.
Citing a report of the Philippine Embassy in Tel-Aviv, the DFA in a statement denied reports of job openings for foreign nurses in Israel.
"Filipino caregivers are recruited for Israel work in household setting, not in hospitals," the DFA said.
It said there have been queries from prospective applicants seeking to verify the jobs offered to them by certain recruiters to work as nurses for a certain Jordan Valley Medical Center, which is nonexistent.
The department has thus alerted the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration of these reports, with a request that a massive information drive be conducted to avert the possible illegal recruitment of Filipino nurses for Israel.
Government statistics show that there are an estimated 37,000 Filipinos in Israel.
